I'm Indian and I swear by threading. I've been to many threading salons and this is the 1st in DC for me. I live in Dupont Circle and I don't think I will try and find another place. Nitasha is good and fast. I think she could have been a bit more meticulous given the price (a little plucking of the fine hairs never hurt nobody) and that's why I deduct a star. I recommend!!
Oh yea, its $12 and she gives u a frequent customer card. Try calling first to avoid waiting.

Although I'm a fairly low-maintenance person, I must admit that I am also somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to my eyebrows, and all the more when I'm paying $10-$20 for someone to shape them. That said, I was very happy with Dupont Threading. The price is relatively low ($12), it was the most painless threading I've ever had done, my eyebrows are even, I like the shape, and Nitasha is extremely fast (with a quick wit as well). She asked where I heard about Dupont Threading, and mentioned that she'd been getting a lot of business from Yelp. Her parting words? "If you liked it, write a review, if not, don't say anything!"
Here's my review. Thanks, Nitasha.

As a 24 year old Indian-American, I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for the past 10 years (oh yes, we start early). In that time, I've endured threaders who were so painful my skin turned raw and even scabbed over. I've walked out of indian beauty parlors batting at myself trying to get pieces of eyebrow off of my cheeks and shirt because the threader didn't brush me off. And most annoyingly, I've bit my tongue with threaders who just can't seem to keep every snarky comment about your every facial imperfection and flaw to themselves (why yes, I KNOW I don't have supermodel skin!!!!! )
Dupont Threading has changed my life.
I just moved to DC and immediately searched Yelp for a threading service I wholeheartedly agree with every single 5 star review on here. I would give NItasha 10 stars if possible. She was extremely polite and professional, did not utter one snarky offhand comment about anything, she brushed off all the eyebrow hair, used a soothing gel/mist after, and best of all....
She does not hurt ONE bit. I'm serious. Even though it is entirely possible my eyebrow area has diminished sensation after 10 years of threading, I've always had to grip my seat a little at least when it came time for them to thread the bottom part of the brow, if not start to tear up. But not with Nitasha. I barely felt anything, and I had no redness or irritation afterward. She is truly gifted and my eyebrows look awesome to boot. Oh, and she also takes plastic, which always wins major points with me. I'm never going anywhere else as long as I'm in DC!!!

Yesterday I had Natasha thread my eyebrows. She was great! I walked in around 11:30am and I was in the chair immediately. I've never had a threading done, I usually wax, so I was a little nervous about the pain factor. It was much less painful than slathering scalding hot wax on and ripping it off. It was even less painful than the plucking with tweezers required after a wax. Natasha also explained how my eyebrows had been previously over groomed and gave me suggestions on which part of my arch that should never be touched.
In short, I'm in total agreement with all the great reviews.

I am a convert forever. I have always waxed, and no matter where I went and how much or how little I spent, I'd get the dreaded "Klingon effect" afterwards. Yes, Klingon as in the Star Trek warrior race with the prominent forehead ridges. I started calling it that because seconds after waxing, the skin around and above my eyes would turn red, swell up, and stay that way for hours. I had to hide at home for the remainder of the day to avoid terrifying small children.
But not with threading! I came in on a whim around 11 AM on Saturday. Nitasha did my brows and lip within 15 minutes with really great results - my eyebrows still looked like my eyebrows, but better! And best of all, my skin didn't react at all!
I will definitely be going back. No more Klingon forehead for this girl.
Nitasha charges $12 for eyebrows, $6 for upper lip, and $40 for the entire face.

Like others, having read the reviews, I decided to try out Dupont Threading. It was quick, easy, and cheap! There was a short wait, but a fun Bollywood movie was playing and Nitasha's daughter chatted happily with the people who were waiting. Once I was in the chair, it was mere minutes until I had nicely groomed eyebrows- no small feat when I haven't been maintaining them. Overall a quick and easy experience, that I highly recommend.

I'm a big fan. Nitasha really knows eyebrows and the best shape for your face. She was able to work with my sparse little caterpillars, working around areas they still need to grow in, and finishing with tweezers. She also gave me tips on how to grow them in more and was super quick.
I went at 6:15pm on a Wednesday and there was a 15-20 minute wait, which is not bad because the space is very clean, with bright cheerful walls and sparkly little decorations. I quite enjoyed my wait, to be honest, because there were some very old magazines to page through, as well as a great Bollywood movie playing on a tiny LCD screen, in which a good-looking couple in matching stripy scarves leaped and twirled through the streets of Toronto, singing songs of love.
I'm not sure there's much merit to making an appointment, since Nitasha seems to be the only one there to both manage the business and do the threading, so I don't think she really keeps track of the appointments. However, she did give priority to those who had made appointments earlier. Apparently, there will be another lady coming in to help out with threading next week.
Dupont Threading is not as cheap as NYC, where I could get my eyebrows and upper lip done for $13 including tip, although I certainly think that Nitasha is a lot more thorough and a lot better at shaping than the ladies I used to go to in New York (A Perfect Shape, Park and 23rd). Overall, highly recommended.

I was looking for a threading place in the area and saw these amazing reviews for Dupont Threading. Yesterday afternoon I headed over there. The place was empty so everything was done quickly. I'm guessing since it was a weekday and hot as hell outside there wasn't much of a rush. She did a great job shaping my eyebrows, and even after I made a suggestion she followed through and did it exactly like I wanted.
Was $12 for eyebrows...not bad for the quality of the job.
If you can make it out to Centreville, VA I would check out this place that does just the same job as Nitasha does...the number is (703) 815-7026. Ask for Lakshmi or Aruna. They use to be my go-to's until I moved into the city and now Nitasha is definitely an equal replacement! Definitely check her out...trust me, I'm verrryyy picky about my brows..and I was happy.

Waxing has never been my favorite method of keeping my eyebrows in check, especially because of the redness that comes from having hot wax ripped off of one's skin. Ouch. Anyway, I hadn't heard of threading until a fellow Yelper directed me to the reviews of this place, but once I read up about it a little I figured I might as well give it a shot.
Turns out, this was one of the best decisions I've made all summer. Thanks to the very quick and very painless process of getting one's eyebrow's threaded, I was an instant convert. Nitasha is friendly and professional, and her set up is very clean and comfortable. The price is right, and the wait time was nearly non-existent, even as a walk-in. Best of all, my eyebrows looked great once she was done (all of five minutes after I sat in down in the chair!), and I received more than one compliment on their fresh, clean look. Oh, and there's the added bonus that I had to do only minimal maintenance by tweezer for at least the first two weeks.
All in all, a great place that I highly recommend.

I just moved to dc from Hawaii and prior to going here I had no clue what the hell threading was. All I knew was that my eyebrows were going out of control and needed some weed whacking. After looking at the praised comment all you yelpers had for Nitashia I decided to give it a try.
I told her I was new to the whole experience and she was very pleasant and helpful through the whole process. I was amazed at how beautiful my eyebrows were in just minutes and how painless it was. To think all these years I've been putting myself in the painful waxing process and paying twice as much. The only complaint I have is that she didn't wipe off the hairs she removed that well and I was walking around the city with hair all over my face!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants beautiful eyebrows for a bargain ($12) but just remember double check the mirror before you leave you might still have some removed hair on your face.

After moving here from New York, where there seems to be a threading salon every few blocks, I was dismayed to find that there were few options for threading in D.C. Thankfully Nitasha is wonderful and her shop is located not too far from my apartment. I had been disappointed with the shape I'd recently gotten the last time I had been threaded elsewhere, so I was relieved that she recognized that it was the wrong shape for my face. She assured me that within a few months, I'd be back to fabulous. Yay for the frequent customer card, too!

For the past four years I've been living in Miami and had a go-to woman for my waxing and threading, so when I moved back to the DC area, I had no idea where to look to get this job done.
With a friend's wedding coming up, I looked about and stumbled upon the reviews here at Yelp, so I decided to give it a try. I called the day before to confirm a few things that were important to me:
The Price: $18 for brow and lip threading
The Tip: can be put on your credit card along with payment - rarely can you find this anywhere anymore!
Walk-ins: available! I'm the queen of last minute decisions to get beauty treatments and the like done!
So after a nice Saturday brunch in Dupont, my boyfriend and I walked over to Dupont Threading. I'll admit, I wasn't really sure what to expect when I walked down the stairs into the little alleyway, but it was nice and clean inside, so that made me feel better.
Nitasha sat me down in a chair right away and I told her I didn't want my brows too thin and just following my natural arches. In less than five minutes, my brows and lip were done! I loved my brow lady before, but Nitasha was quick, painless, and did exactly what I asked for.
Overall, I'm very pleased. My only complaint, and actually it was my boyfriend's complaint, was that apparently the carpet in the waiting area had raised polka dots that gave him a headache. I, however, didn't notice as I was too busy getting perfectly groomed!

I've been to two other places for threading (in VA) and alternate between waxing, threading, and recklessly trying to keep up on my own with tweezers. Today, after recklessly trying to keep up on my own for a few months I decided it was time to get professionally groomed.
Nitasha is great. The other two places that I went for threading provided me with pretty curt service - walk in, get shoved in a chair, have hair ripped out of my face in a time span of 1.5 minutes, and go. She, on the other hand, sat me down in a chair and kinda scrutinized my face for a little bit then talked to me about the shape of my brows. After that she worked on one, showed it to me to make sure I liked it, then did the other to match. My eyebrows look fabulous!
She's very friendly and good at what she does. I have to hop on the metro and go a few stops to get to her but I'll happily return in a few weeks.

Nitasha is amazing. She really pays attention to the proper shape for your face, takes her time and makes sure to ask you what you want or point out places to improve. She told me to go ahead and let the ends of mine taper out.
I used to go exclusively to Threads but after having TOO MUCH hair removed (read: I ended up with half an eyebrow) from one of the younger girls, I said "never again".
I will definitely be returning to Nitasha. And, at $12 a pop, she is still cheaper than threads.
Note: She also has this "frequent customer" card. After ten visits, you get one job for free. She also mentioned that she will be doing bikini waxes for $30, brazilians for $40 and some other body waxing. With the job she does on faces, I can only imagine how great she'll be on the rest of the body.

I've been getting my eyebrows waxed since I was 16 years old, but because my skin has become too sensitive to handle waxing in recent months, I decided it might be time to explore new grooming options. After reading the reviews for Dupont Threading on yelp, I stopped in at the studio after work. I didn't make an appointment, but Nitasha was able to take me immediately.
It was my first time getting threaded, and Nitasha completely put me at ease. First, she demonstrated the threading technique on my arm and explained what she would be doing. Then she got to work on my brows - I found it to be far less painful than waxing. About 2-3 minutes later, she was done! I am absolutely thrilled with the results - and I can't believe it only cost $12! I've paid up to $20 before to have my brows waxed, and I wasn't near as happy with the results as I am now.
The entire studio was spotless and nicely decorated. Oh, and later that night, I got an email from Nitasha thanking me for coming in - if that's not great customer service, I don't know what is! I'll definitely be back, and I've already recommended Dupont Threading to several of my friends.

I can now consider myself a veteran thread-ee, but I've been slightly unhappy with my recent threading results. When I saw on yelp that Dupont Threading was getting such high reviews, I decided to try it out. I went in yesterday after work after calling a few hours in advance to make sure they'd have time for me.
It's located a scant 10 minute (if that) walk from the south exit of the Dupont metro, and very easy to find. The entranceway is kept clean and tidy and there is a clear sign out front so you don't miss it!
The salon itself is also clean and tidy, and Nitasha greeted me cheerfully and got straight to work on my stray hairs. She knows her stuff. There are diagrams on the walls demonstrating the "ideal eyebrow shape" and the various thickness and shape preferences. I have seen these diagrams before in various makeup books, and somehow the fact that she also knew about them and advertised them gave me a spurt of confidence in her ability to make your eyebrow enhance your facial features. She didn't disappoint!
Although I just asked her to clean me up (it had been over two months. Yikes.) I'm sure I could have told her, "I want a thin brow with outside wings and high arches" and she would have been able to oblige. She worked around my face in a circle, cleaning up, brushing, and trimming as needed. She started with the right brow, moving to the upper lip, then to the left brow. At the end she asked me if I wanted to change the shape or thickness. I didn't, because I was happy with the result: practically painless, thick but newly-arched, neat, tidy brows. Cost: $18 (plus $2 tip.)
I have visited Threads (on U St.) often and have to say that I think Dupont Threading is a bit better. I'll go back a few times and see if this judgement stands.

I really wanted to like Nitasha's work! While she did work fast I found her service messy (she did my brows and lip) she didnt wipe off or soothe the skin. (i had hair in my eyes and mouth). I got a rash on my upper lip area as well. And to top it off my eyebrows looked shapless.

This was my first time getting threaded so I didn't know what to expect. I think I might be more of a fan of waxing, but if you want threading, you should definitely go here.
Nitasha is wonderful. She's such a sweet woman who is very skilled at threading. Knowing that this was my first time, she was very soothing and explained the whole process. She asked me the eyebrow shape I wanted, and even showed me on a chart my different options.
The buidling itself is quite cute and I hope Nitasha's business does well and becomes a staple in Dupont. While threading feels a little awkward and slightly uncomfortable at first, it's definitely a new option for hair removal. Nitasha's prices are also quite reasonable and you can pay by credit card.

Nitasha is an absolute artist. The shop is a quiet little place next to Luna Grill with three rooms and two chairs. Nitasha took a moment to look at my totally ungroomed brows -- I hadn't waxed or plucked in three months -- and went to work. The process is faster and less sticky than waxing; painwise I'd saw threading is less uncomfortable.
I was in and out of there in 5 minutes with symmetrical arches and a big smile. A brow shaping is $12 -- a few bucks cheaper than at Threads on U Street and way cheaper than getting waxed at Aveda. She also has a frequent customer card: after 10 visits, you get one free.

I went yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see Nitasha there, who was previously at Threads. She has always done a good job and yesterday was no exception. I went there b/c I had a bad experience with a wax the last time I was at Threads and also read that they had no A/C. Thankfully, Nitasha has set up 3 separate areas, all nicely air-conditioned: a waiting area, waxing/treatment room, and threading area. Also a plus, a nice sized sign on 18th St so you know where you're going!

First, thanks to the numerous folks who recommended DuPont Threading here on Yelp. I'm new to DC and have been looking for a variety of places for upkeep. I'd never tried threading. I usually get tweezed (my face is too sensitive for wax).
How fabulous is this, though? I saw Nitasha, and apart from being super sweet, she did a really great job. She was thorough and quick, and utterly professional. She is also not outrageously priced. That's always a plus!

Nitasha is terrific! I've been getting my eyebrows threaded ever since my mom dragged me to place at the age of 16. I've been hooked ever since and fearful that any new person I try will butcher my eyebrows. So when I moved to DC I was very nervous to try someone new. However, I had a great experience. not only do my eyebrows look great but Nitasha is so nice and makes you feel very comfortable. But beware - go once and you'll be hooked!

I am thrilled that DC is starting to get more options for threading.
I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for almost two years now after taking medication that made my skin too sensitive to wax. Even if I could go back to waxing, I wouldn't do it. Threading is much healthier for your skin and less painful.
I usually go to Threads on U Street but because they close at 4 PM on Saturdays I decided to venture over to DuPont Threading after checking out the glowing reviews here. At a little after 5 PM I walked down a few steps off of 18th Street (near Luna Cafe) to enter a cool, clean and very cute salon. Nitasha, who was sitting on one of the colorful settees in the waiting lounge, greeted me with a warm and friendly smile. Before she started into the threading she showed me a chart of eyebrow styles and described which would look best on my face shape and why. She also gently told me what was wrong with my current brow shape. After she did one brow quickly and efficiently, she gave me a mirror to see for myself. The difference was honestly staggering. She again explained the contrast between the styles and asked me what I thought. I enthusiastically agreed and she continued with the other brow. In a matter of minutes, I had gotten a "facelift" without surgery. She said it would take a couple of visits to achieve the ultimate shape, which was fine with me, because I have decided to make DuPont Threading my regular place for brows.
Also love that you can put tip on your credit card - a rarity for salon services in DC.

A few weeks ago I made the decision to try out threading. After consulting with Yelp!, I walked over to Salon Charisma in Dupont for my appointment with Nitasha.
Nitasha is very nice and talkative, which made me feel comfortable right away. She definitely knows what she's doing. I did find threading to be slightly painful but according to Nitasha that was because it was my first time and I had ingrown hairs which are tough to remove. The skin above my eyebrows actually got irritated and I had to deal with a minor breakout, but no biggie! This method is definitely better than waxing (no sagging skin), and tweezing (more convenient).
I also had my upper lip done and that was a lot more bearable and not at all painful. She charged me around $18 ($12 for eyebrows + $6 for upper lip).
p.s. She will accept credit cards but has to use the salon's card swipe machine so I think she prefers cash.

Went yesterday as a threading-newbie and became a convert! Nitasha was super sweet and did an amazing job with my brows. Comparing it pain-wise to waxing I would say the individual pain of threading is less, but since it takes a little longer it maybe starts to get a little irritating. I definitely will be returning to Nitasha though!

I tried threading for the first time yesterday. I made an appointment with Nitasha, based on the Yelp reviews and I'm glad I did!!! I've been looking for more than a year for somebody who will listen to me when I explain how I want my eyebrows to look. All my previous waxing disasters in the DC area, left me almost hopeless.
I'm amazed at how quick and neat Nitasha did her job!! Perfect eyebrows, completely hairless upper lip and NO IRRITATION!!! Within ten minutes, redness was completely gone.
Extremely close to south exit in DuPont Circle Metro Station. Very clean and nice "threading room", where all your requests and concerns will stay between you and Nitasha, who really cares about her work. You don't have to make an appointment, but when you don't have a lot of time, I suggest you make one.

An eyebrow artist!
After reading such good things about this place I felt compelled to try it out. My eyebrows were growing out of control and I really needed help. To my delight the whole experience was wonderful. The salon was clean, the waiting room very comfortable, and I enjoyed watching clips of bollywood movies on the TV. Once I was in Nitasha's chair the magic began. She looked at my eyebrows and knew right away that I was a waxer and that I trimmed my brows. How did she know that? I was already amazed. By the time she finished with my first brow I couldn't hold back my excitement. How does a person pull hair out with thread? My brow was just perfect. I didn't feel a lot of pain but I'm sure everyone has their own level of discomfort. The process was very quick and didn't require the additional tools that most waxer use on my brows to tame them. When I tell you this woman is an artist I really mean it. I would also like to add that Nitasha is very very nice, has great prices, and I hope she gets a lot of business.
