Does anyone do Online Surveys/focus groups where you pay to join? For example, Top Online Surveys?
I need some feedback before I join to make sure it is legit.

Just a knee-jerk reaction - shouldn't they pay you?

But no, I've never done online suveys, only face-to-face focus groups where they give $80-100 cash in an envelope at conclusion.

Just a knee-jerk reaction - sounds a little suspect.  Do they pay you at some point?

Hi Julia,

I would be VERY careful with these online surveys.  Why are they making you pay upfront? What exactly are you paying for? This may be a finder's service.  If you pay them x amount of money they will locate different sites and companies that are looking for people to compete surveys.  It may not guarantee you any money at all.   i would be wary of anything that makes you pay upfront.  I would agree with Ellen by saying that stick with the face to face groups!

I would never pay to participate in online surveys.  If you're really looking to make some extra $$$, i'm going to repeat Ellen and Dave and say to stick with market reasearch companies that pay you cash and all they expect is an hour or so of your time.
If you' re looking to find some , check out http://www.craigslist.com. Click on chicago, then go down to the [ETC] under jobs and click on that.  if nothing appeals to you, call anyway and have them add you to their list of potential participants. It's really easy to make a few extra hundred a month, if you're willing to spend some time answering their questions.

I recently stumbled across something similiar to this, where you fill out ads for companies and they promise to pay you thousands a day!
This is a scam? right?
Even though it says it's not,It still is right!?

Adam - They usually try to tempt you with the promise of making thousands.  Then when they have you sold they ask for their fee.   Get a bunch of questions and talk to a live person.  If they skirt any of your questions or ask for a fee don't do it.  I am sure there may be a legit company  or two out there but more often than not, they are scammers!

they should pay you. At most you'll get $10 a pop if you hook into the right group. Usually you have to waste major time to get that crap filled out. Not worth it.

Skip it.  You'll be glad you did.
